Since 2005, I have worked with countless women and their partners struggling with fertility challenges & pregnancy loss, witnessing over and over again the powerful benefits of yoga on fertility. The practice of fertility yoga I teach is a comprehensive methodology, created by Brenda Strong, which specifically addresses the stress and emotional component often associated – but sometimes ignored – with the fertility journey.

Over the past decade, I have had the honor to guide and hold the space for hundreds of women moving through the tumultuous roller coaster ride of fertility. I have also been through my own personal bumpy ride on the fertility wagon. After two miscarriages, I conceived my amazing son. My pregnancy with him was not without its challenges, but in the end, all was well and I was blessed to have my ‘ideal’ childbirth and delivery. I owe much of my ability to stay calm and trusting of my body to my yoga practice. And that experience drives me to pass that knowledge on through my teaching of fertility, prenatal & postpartum yoga.

In 2009, I was diagnosed with a “severe” disc herniation in my low back. I used the practice of specific yoga approaches, therapeutically, to stabilize and manage that injury with no other medical interventions. So it brings me great joy to now share the tools of yoga with other individuals in chronic pain, recovering from injury, post-operative rehab and to help build an awareness towards injury prevention.

Whether in a group or privately, yoga sessions with me offer a fun and safe space for individuals, and the collective group, to be educated. I create a space for students to make discoveries of what works for them in their own practice that particular day, instilling the practice of ‘honoring the body.’ Whether I am teaching pre-natal yoga, fertility yoga, yoga for beginners or good old make-you-sweat yoga, my approach and intention to teaching is to always make it safe, accessible and suited to fit the individual’s needs.

A deep truth I believe is that yoga can be a vehicle towards healing. Yoga’s power lies not just in the science of it – although yoga’s powerful therapeutic properties have been proven again and again – but the awareness and self-study that a yoga practice elicits. With the ‘yoga boom’ in the West, much of the focus on yoga leans mainly on the “asanas” (physical postures). But yoga is an eight-limb path. A path that, in itself, takes time to decipher, discover and explore for any individual willing to make the journey.

I am also a proud member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists, Yoga Alliance* and an Ambassador of Strong Yoga®4Women.

I completed the Yoga Therapy Rx program through Loyola Marymount University and then moved immediately into a 14 month clinical internship through the Tensegrity Center for Yoga Therapy, under the guides of Sherry Brourman, P.T., C-IAYT, E-RYT-500 & Leslie Kazadi, C-IAYT, E-RYT-500. I have since completed the Alchemy of Yoga Therapy, an advanced 300 hour yoga therapy teacher training, also with Leslie Kazadi, C-IAYT, E-RYT500.

“During a difficult time in my life, I was fortunate to meet a very special person, Wendy Obstler. I had been struggling with fertility issues, suffered a miscarriage, and was going through IVF. I decided to sign up for fertility yoga and it changed my life.

“Fertility yoga was empowering. I looked forward to my classes with Wendy every week. She is supportive, knowledgeable, kind, and caring. She is an incredible yoga teacher who taught me breathing techniques that I used constantly. The nurturing environment and the wonderful friends I made in the class were a source of support throughout the process. I truly believe that Wendy was an important part of why my dream became a reality.

“I have a beautiful son now. I am so grateful to the angels who helped me on my journey to have him. Thank you, Wendy, for being one of those angels!”
